Who these terms apply to
These terms apply when you use State as a member, elected representative, candidate, organisation, or visitor. You must be 13 or over to create an account. State is operated by Collective Thinking Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
If you have questions about these terms, email contact@state.com.
Using State
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account or verifying your representative access.
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens through your account.
- You must not impersonate another person, representative, organisation, or public body.
- You must not attempt to disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or misuse the platform.
- You must follow our Community Guidelines and Moderation Policy, which form part of these terms.
Your contributions
You keep ownership of the discussions, contributions, profile information, and other content you submit. By posting content on State, you give us permission to host, display, analyse, summarise, and share it as needed to operate the platform and show public opinion to relevant decision-makers.
- Do not post content that breaks our Community Guidelines or the law.
- We may remove content, limit visibility, or suspend or close accounts where we believe these terms, our Community Guidelines or the law have been breached. Our Moderation Policy explains how this works and how to appeal.
Representative access
Representative tools are for verified representatives and authorised staff. You must only use representative access for legitimate civic, parliamentary, or constituent-service purposes.
The Oracle and AI
State uses AI, including the Oracle and discussion summaries, to help people understand political information and navigate State. Responses and summaries may be incomplete or wrong, and should not be treated as legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. Our Use of AI page explains more.
Changes and availability
We may update State, add or remove features, change these terms, or pause parts of the service. If we make material changes to these terms, we will update the date on this page and may notify users in the product or by email.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
