I'm Marcus Johns, Labour Co-op Councillor for Deansgate in Manchester City Centre since 2018. I am Deputy Executive Member for Housing & Regeneration, supporting the delivery of our housing strategy for good, safe, and affordabel housing across Manchester. Outside being a Councillor, I work for the Fabian Society developing policy for economic prosperity across the country. My local and political priorities are shaped by the promises I made in the 2024 local election, when I was last elected, alongside the regular doorknocking, residents' meetings, and enquiries I receive from residents. My plan for Manchester’s brighter future pledged to work on : 1. ADVANCING OUR GREEN SPACE REVOLUTION with more trees, more green space, and improving existing spaces 2. BUILDING SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR ALL to enjoy, including supporting residents with fire safety issues 3. IMPROVING ACCESS TO HEALTH AND EDUCATION SERVICES for city centre residents of all ages, particularly NHS DENTISTRY 4. DELIVERING CLEAN STREETS we can all be proud of, using our £2.3 million new investment 5. Achieving a sustainable future for our city, TACKLING THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY, CLEANING OUR AIR, and BUILDING A FAIR ECONOMY. We're seeing great progress on cleaner streets, a new park planned for Water Street, the successful doctors and primary school in New Jackson, the GM Remediation Acceleration Plan for fire safety defects, and new social and affordable housing being built in the heart of our city centre. And, there is more to do. Please do get in touch with your concerns, issues, and ideas for our city centre so that I can help and support you making the city centre a great place to live, using the contact details below. Please copy in my ward colleague Anthony McCaul — we work together on helping the residents we represent. I host regular surgeries online and in person, working with my Labour Co-op ward colleague Anthony McCaul, and you can find out where and when these are by contacting me.
